Request Action:

Pass an ordinance to provide language relating to in-service distributions for retired members assigned as part-time reserve officers which would only apply if the member earns more than 20% of the pre-retirement pay.

 

Need:

To amend the pension ordinance to allow for in-service distributions for retirees who are assigned as part-time reserve officers if their earnings reach a certain level.

 

Summary Explanation/ Background:

The City of Lauderhill has a reserve officer program.  If a retiree is assigned to the reserve officer program and their earnings exceed 20% of their pre-retirement pay then this provision allows for in-service distributions to the qualifying retired member.
