Request Action:
Pass a time sensitive Resolution to oppose the Legislature from clawing back, recouping or repurposing funds allocated to local governments from the American Rescue Plan Act.
Need:
To oppose the Federal Governments taking back or repurposing of funds.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The Federal Government allocated monies to local governments to try to help address the effects of the Coronavirus as a result of the American Rescue Plan Act. Shortly after the money was allocated, Congress is now considering taking the money back via a claw back, recoup, or repurposing of the funds to try to use the monies towards other purposes instead. Commissioner Lawrence "Jabbow" Martin has requested a resolution to oppose any action or legislation by the United States Congress to clawback, recoup, or repurpose the funds that was allocated to local governments as part of the American Rescue Plan Act. This Resolution is time sensitive and emergent in nature due to the timing of when the Legislature may act on this matter.
