Body

Request Action:

Requesting Commission approval for the change in dental insurance from Humana to Cigna. The City released a request for proposals to closely match or enhance existing DHMO and DPPO benefit levels, minimize the cost of providing dental benefits for employees and dependents while maintaining or enhancing current benefit levels, provide the City's employees, dependents, and retirees with a robust network of providers, and obtain dental plan proposals through a single source organization.

Need:

The top ranked proposal match the City's existing dental benefits as closely as possible with as minimal disruption as possible.

Summary Explanation/ Background:

The proposal will allow the City to continue to provide excellent dental benefits to employees, their families, and retirees. Cigna is offering a 1% bundling credit for dental insurance when purchased with medical insurance which will result in the estimated total annual premium of $244,108, which is approximately 9% lower than the current premiums with Humana by $25,485 savings.
