Need Summary Explanation/ Background:

Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law HB 913 and HB 393, which provides for significant reforms aimed at increasing transparency, accountability, financial relief, and community involvement in the management of condominium associations. In particular, HB 913 enhances the regulation of condominiums and cooperatives by addressing affordability, providing for relief from unexpected fee assessments, improving oversight of condominium boards, and increasing transparency for condominium unit owners. HB 393 enhances the My Safe Florida Condo Program, focusing on building safety, mitigation measures, and residents’ participation in multi-story condominiums. The City Commission believes it is in the best interest of the City to support HB 913 and HB 393, which seek transparency, accountability, and community engagement in all matters related to governance of condominiums in the State of Florida.
