Recommendation that the Mayor and City Commission approve a Change Order to the existing agreement in the amount of $91,315.08 associated with replacing the Main Rotor and Main Stator to complete the repairs of the Water Treatment Plant Main Generator to authorize the replacement of the generator's Main Rotor and Main Stator, as identified in the contractor's Initial Findings Report, and approve the additional funding required to complete the work.

Why is there a need for this action and provide summary/background?

The City previously awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of the Water Treatment Plant's main emergency generator. As part of the contractor's evaluation process, comprehensive inspections and electrical testing were performed to determine the condition of the generator's internal components. The Initial Findings Report concluded that the Main Rotor and Main Stator have deteriorated beyond acceptable operating tolerances and require replacement. The original rehabilitation plan included an attempt to recondition the existing windings; however, post-reconditioning testing determined that the components could not be restored to acceptable operating values or manufacturer-recommended standards.
