Ordinance required by Florida Statutes, Section 197.3632 in order to adopt, approve, and certify the assessment roll and re-impose the uniform method for collecting non-ad valorem special assessments on Annual Broward County Tax Bill for Fire Rescue Fees and the proposed rate structure.
Need: (Why is there a need for this action?)
The City of Lauderhill is re-imposing the costs necessary to provide fire rescue services within the City. An increased rate structure is being proposed as necessary to cover the cost of services.
Summary Explanation/ Background: (Provide a summary/background of this agenda request)
The City of Lauderhill passed and adopted the original Intent Ordinance No. 00O-6-39 to begin imposing Fire Rescue Assessments throughout the City in 2000 as a non-ad valorem assessment collected on the Annual Tax Bill. Each subsequent year the City has re-imposed the uniform method of collection of the non-ad valorem special assessments for Fire Rescue Fees. This year an increased rate structure is being proposed as necessary to continue to provide the reasonable and necessary services. A public hearing on this matter was held on September 12, 2024 at or about 6:15 p.m. prior to the adoption of the first reading of this Ordinance for the purpose of receiving public comment on the re-imposition of the uniform method of collection of non-ad valorem...
