Request Action:
Approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager to negotiate a facilities use agreement or other appropriate legal instrument, subject to approval as to legal form by the City Attorney, for the establishment of a police station, substation, or workstation at an apartment complex.Approval will allow the City Manager, in coordination with the Police Department and City Attorney, to negotiate a legally appropriate agreement that enhances public safety presence and community policing efforts, while protecting the City’s legal and operational interests.


Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
The property owner has expressed interest in hosting a police station, substation, or workstation on-site to enhance community safety. Commission authorization is needed to allow the City Manager to negotiate an appropriate facilities use agreement or other legal instrument, with terms reviewed and drafted by the City Attorney, to ensure any arrangement supports public safety objectives while protecting the City’s legal, operational, and financial interests.
