RESOLUTION NO. 25R-03-66: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL, FLORIDA, APPOINTING DR. TAJ-MARIE HUNTER BY COMMISSIONER RICHARD CAMPBELL TO SERVE AS A MEMBER OF THE EDUCATION ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE REMAINDER OF A FOUR (4) YEAR TERM EXPIRING NOVEMBER 2026 OR CONCURRENT WITH THE COMMISSIONER SEAT, WHICHEVER SHALL OCCUR FIRST; APPOINTING VERONICA BOYD BY COMMISSIONER MELISSA P. DUNN TO SERVE AS A MEMBER OF THE EDUCATION ADVISORY BOARD TO SERVE FOR THE REMAINDER OF A FOUR (4) YEAR TERM EXPIRING NOVEMBER 2028 OR CONCURRENT WITH THE COMMISSIONER SEAT, WHICHEVER SHALL OCCUR FIRST; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Appointments to the Educational Advisory Board (EAB) have expired and new appointments must be approved to ensure the board has a quorum and is able to continue meeting.
The following information has been prepared for your consideration:
I. REQUESTED ACTION
This Resolution is requested to approve the appointments to the EAB, as selected by individual Commissioners to fill the vacant and/or expired seats.
II. SUMMARY AND HISTORY/BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Code of Ordinances states that when a Commissioner's term ends or they leave office, any appointments they made, which have not otherwise expired, will automatically expire 60 days after their successor takes office unless the new Commissioner approves extending the existing appointment.
Dr. Taj-Marie Hunter was appointed by Mayor Denise D. Grant. During her term as Commissioner in Seat 4, for a term to expire November 2026 however, as Mayor Grant’s term in Seat 4 ended and she took office in Seat 5 as Mayor, this appointment is now considered to have automatically expired 60 days after Commissioner Campbell took office, leaving the seat vacant.
