GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COMMISSION, PURSUANT TO FLORIDA STATUTES CHAPTER 421, TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE LAUDERHILL HOUSING AUTHORITY BOARD FOR THE TERMS PROVIDED; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY MAYOR DENISE D. Request Action:
Adopt a Resolution to increase the total number of Commissioners on the Lauderhill Housing Authority to seven (7), as allowed under Chapter 421, by adding two additional seats. Also approve several appointments to the Lauderhill Housing Authority Board to fill the vacant, expired, and newly added seats.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
The Lauderhill Housing Authority (LHA) was established under Resolution No. 02R-08-139 as a Commission with a total of five (5) Commissioners; Chapter 421 allowed for Housing Authorities to include up to seven (7) Commissioner seats. It is the request of the Mayor to increase the size of the Lauderhill Housing Authority to a total of seven (7) by adding two additional Commissioner seats.
Currently Edna Frazier (Seat 1) and Elaine Daniels Lynch (Seat 3) serve on the LHA for terms that expire in November 2026 and November 2027, respectively. Simone Ruiz Narcis (Seat 4) and Lamont Roberts (Seat 5) were previously appointed to terms which expired November 2024. Philip Goombs previously served on the LHA, in a term which expired November 2026, until his resignation in June of 2025.
With the addition of two seats, this leaves a total of five expired or vacant seats. Mayor Denise D. Grant has selected the following qualified individuals to be appointed to those seats for the terms as follows:
