Body
Request Action:
Requesting consideration of a text amendment to the Land Development Regulations (LDR) prepared by Staff, to allow a new application type entitled "Temporary Use."
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
Staff is proposing new regulations for temporary uses to address short-term activities and structures that are not currently covered by the City's development regulations. Temporary uses, such as sales offices for new residential developments or portable storage units, are intended to operate for a limited period and do not permanently alter a property. The proposed regulations would establish a consistent review process and create two categories-Major Temporary Uses and Minor Temporary Uses-to ensure these activities are compatible with surrounding properties while supporting community needs and economic development.
The Development Review Report (DRR) prepared by staff outlines the in greater detail the purpose and intent of the changes. The item was considered by the Planning & Zoning Board at the Meeting held on May 26, 2026. The majority of the Board recommended approval to the City Commission of the changes with a vote of 4-1.
