Request Action:

Approve a City-directed change order with Saltz Michelson Architects to extract the meter room from the complete design package.  This modification will allow the City to proceed with the electrical work for the tennis courts immediately, enabling the tennis court lighting system to become operational in advance of the full park renovation project.

Need Summary Explanation/ Background:

The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting Commission approval to authorize a City-directed change order for Saltz Michelson Architects. The current full design package includes electrical work for the tennis courts as part of a larger park renovation project.

To expedite activation of the tennis lighting system and enhance public use, it is necessary to separate the electrical portion from the complete design package. This change will allow the City to perform the electrical work at this time, while the remaining design components will remain intact for inclusion in a future construction phase, anticipated to be funded through General Obligation (G.O.) Bond proceeds.

By advancing the electrical work now, the City will improve recreational service levels and avoid extended facility downtime while maintaining compliance with design continuity and project phasing.
