RESOLUTION NO. 26R-09-172: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL,FLORIDA, WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO PIGGYBACK OF THE FLORIDA SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION (FSA) CONTRACT FSA 25VEL-33 FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) TRUCKS (A 2027 FORD F550 4X2 SUPER CAB TRUCK AND A 2026 FORD F250 REGULAR CAB 142” WB 4X2 TRUCK) FROM DUVAL FORD, LLC, TO BE UTILIZED BY THE UTILITIES DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PIGGYBACK AGREEMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $149,576.00; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY CITY MANAGER KENNIE HOBBS, JR.).

Request Action:
The City of Lauderhill (City) Commission is being asked to approve the utilization of the Florida Sheriffs Association contract to purchase a two (2) trucks (a 2027 Ford F550 4x2 super cab truck and a 2026 Ford F250 regular cab 142” WB 4x2 truck) for the City’s Utilities department. The purchase, which would be made from Duval Ford, LLC, will not exceed a total of $149,576.00 for both vehicles.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
Pursuant to Section 2-144 of the City's Code, the City may waive its requirements on competitive bidding and join in on cooperative purchasing plans when in the best interest of the City.
The Florida Sheriffs Association competitively solicited and awarded Contract FSA 25VEL-33, to vendors inclusive of Duval Ford, LLC. This contract permits cooperative purchasing by municipalities and other governmental entities, making the contract available for piggyback use by the City.
The City’s Utilities department has identified the need to acquire these two trucks for the department and piggybacking this competitively awarded FSA contract will allow the City to procure the vehicles in a timely and cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with the City's Procurement Code.
