Request Action:
Pass a Resolution acknowledging physical attendance to meet Sunshine requirements and allowing electronic meetings to continue to allow participant attendance virtually as a hybrid option
Need:
To authorize the City Manager regarding provisions for electronic attendance at public meetings during a declared Public Health State of Emergency
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The City of Lauderhill, State of Florida, and the entire United States still remain under a Declaration of a State of Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the public health and safety risk and the need to continue to follow CDC Guidelines for safe distancing and avoiding large gatherings it is essential to hold hybrid meetings to allow continued electronic meetings and virtual attendance by participants. City public boards members are required to attend public meetings in person as the waiver of the physical presence by the Governor has expired. The City Manager shall be authorized to make provisions regarding electronic attendance during periods of a declared public health state of emergency.
