Request Action:
Pass a Resolution to approve the Amendment to the 5-cent lnterlocal Option Gas Tax on Motor Fuel for Transit Agreement between Broward County and various municipalities.
Need:
The amendment needs to be approved each year in order for our city to be able to collect our percentage of the five cents gas tax.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The Interlocal Agreement provides for the distribution of gas taxes among the participating cities based upon population figures published annually by the University of Florida Bureau of Economics and Business Research. The Interlocal Agreement also provides for the population numbers to be revised annually using the most current published figures. The Cities share a total of 26% of the "transit gas tax" agreement amongst them. The population figure for the City of Lauderhill this year is published at 72,507.
