Request Action:
Pass an Ordinance approving an additional senior homestead exemption for certain qualifying persons age 65 or older.

Need:
To approve a second additional senior homestead exemption.

Summary Explanation/ Background:
Mayor Ken Thurston has requested the passage of an ordinance to approve a second additional senior homestead exemption for certain qualified persons age 6 5or older. The senior who owns the property must also meet the adjusted household income limitation, have maintained permanent residence at the property for at least 25 years, and for which the property that the owner has title has a just value less than $250,000 as determined in the first tax year that the owner applies and is eligible.
