Body
Request Action:
Request to approve the piggybacking on Omnia Partners contract 4400008468, which focuses on Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness services, for an amount not to exceed $50,000.

Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
Legislative Requirement: The Florida Legislature amended Section 934.50 of the Florida Statutes in 2022, which required the Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) to create a list of approved drone manufacturers. Agencies using drones not produced by approved manufacturers had to discontinue using them by January 1, 2023.

2023 Legislative Action: DMS published Rule 60GG-2.0075 to set new minimum-security requirements for drones purchased by governmental entities in Florida.

Drone Replacement Program: The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) was allocated $25 million to implement the Drone Replacement Grant Program. This program provides funds to law enforcement agencies to replace noncompliant drones, which are then analyzed for cybersecurity concerns by the Florida Center for Cybersecurity at the University of South Florida.
