Body
Request Action:
The Parks and Recreation Department would like the Commission to approve the installation of a new playground at Wolk Park.
Need:
Why is there a need for this action?
The Parks Department intended to install the playground in Renaissance Park. The original installation location met necessary code requirements, but given the large voltage electrical wires in the area relocating the playground to another park location would be a safer and more suitable option. The City is committed to enhancing Renaissance Park with engaging, fun equipment so it is pursuing installing the Born Learning Trails that are lower to the ground and ensure safe play.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The current playground at Wolk Park has significantly aged with visible signs of rust and deterioration. It has exceeded its intended lifespan and will soon be a safety concern. Installing a new playground in its place will not only address these safety issues, but also provide a modern and engaging play area that meets current standards and enhances the overall experience for children and families in the community.
