Emergency repair of the Water Treatment Plant Green Leaf Filter Structure.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
Craig A. Smith & Associates was tasked to inspect the two Green Leaf filters at the Lauderhill Water Treatment Plan while MKI services was in the process of rehabilitating the two filters. The inspection revealed large amounts of rust and steel corrosion along the verticle walls and the tank welds. The inlet flumes support I-beams were badly rusted with large sections rusted through. The corrosion had damaged the beams to such an extent that they are no longer structurally capable of safely supporting the inlet flume or the center operational platform. It was recommended that the badly rusted I-beams must be replaced and the remaining beams should be sand blasted and painted.
