Request Action:
A resolution is requested from the City Commission to accept and approve the recommendations of the Lauderhill Local Affordable Advisory Committee Annual Report.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
Action is required to comply with the 2022 Florida Statue Chapter 420 Housing Section Adoption of affordable housing incentive strategies; committees, subsection 420.9076(4).
Cost Summary/ Fiscal Impact:
As a recipient of the State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds, the City of Lauderhill established an Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC), as required by the Florida Statutes, Sec. 420.9076. The AHAC is responsible for annually reviewing and evaluating local plans, policies, procedures, land development regulations, the Comprehensive Plan, and other aspects of the City housing activities that impact the production of affordable housing. Further, the AHAC is specifically directed by the SHIP Statute to consider and evaluate the implementation of the housing Incentives set out in Sec. 420.9076 (4)(a)-(k), Florida Statutes. Based on the AHAC’s evaluation of these Incentives, it may recommend to the local government that it makes modifications of, exceptions to, or creation of new plans, policies, procedures, and other governing approaches which would encourage production of affordable housing.
