Summary Explanation/ Background:
Commissioner Lawrence "Jabbow" Martin has forwarded a request from Broward Estates St. George Civic Association to name the boxing gym at Maye Frances Brooks Jenkins Park in Broward Estates after the late Sergeant Corey Pendergrass. The City Commission can initiate a request to name a public facility after a deceased person. Commissioner Jabbow Martin is initiating this request. Sergeant Pendergrass was extremely involved with the children in the community and in the City of Lauderhill, in additional to providing many years of service to protect the residents in his role as a law enforcement officer with the City of Lauderhill Police Department prior to his untimely passing at a young age due to complications related to COVID-19.
