Body
Request Action:
The Parks and Recreation Department would like the Commission to approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the City and Harmony Development Center Inc.

Need:
The City seeks to enter a MOU with Harmony Development Center Inc. to establish a framework for a relationship in which Harmony Development Inc. and the City will cooperate to expand the availability of year-round programs (afterschool and summer) addressing the developmental needs of middle school-aged youth who would benefit from programs promoting resilience, social-emotional learning, and academic support.

Summary Explanation/ Background:
The City Commission previously already approved a Professional Services Agreement with Harmony Development Center Inc. to provide after school and summer programming in our Parks Department. Harmony Development Center Inc. is now applying for grant funding from the Children's Services Council's Positive Development 2024 RFP and is in need of an MOU approving these services be conducted at the West Ken Lark Community Center and Windermere Community Center. Under the MOU, the City and Harmony will cooperate to implement the proposed Positive Youth Development programming youth services which is mutually beneficial to both parties and the youth in the Lauderhill Community. Programming will be structured to positively impact youth in numerous ways, including academic growth, skill building, and mental and physical development.
