Body

Request Action:

A resolution approving the award to Hudson Pumps & Equipment an approved sole source vendor for the purchase and installation of two (2) additional clear well pumps located at the Water Treatment Plant.

Need:

The existing clear well pumps have exceeded their life expectancy due to wear and tear and are demonstrating the need why replacement is necessary. Currently, the Utilities Division has replaced three (3) out of the five (5) clear well pumps at the Water Treatment. The remaing two (2) clear well pumps are in need of replacement.  This resolution approves the purchase and installation of the last two (2) well pumps.

Summary Explanation/ Background:

A clear well is an enclosed tank that is associated with the daily operations of the City’s Water Treatment Plant.  Clear wells are used as part of the process for storage of filtered water from the City’s Water Treatment Plant, in which the clear well pumps are used to transfer water from the clear wells into the City’s two 3 million gallon storage tanks and one 2 million gallon storage booster station that supplies treated and filtered water into the distribution system.  Resolution 19R-05-89 approved the prior purchase and installation of the first three (3) pumps that were replaced.  This Resolution would approve the purchase and installation of the last two (2) additional pumps needed.
