Body

Request Action:

Approval of a resolution amending the City’s facilities naming policy to add a classification allowing recognition of individuals who created or advanced programs with a direct nexus to a City facility’s purpose.  Adoption will allow the City to recognize individuals whose leadership in community programs significantly supports the mission or activities associated with a City facility.

Need Summary Explanation/ Background:

The current naming policy recognizes financial contributions and direct involvement in the development of a facility but does not address situations where an individual’s leadership of a program has significantly advanced the facility’s purpose. The amendment clarifies the policy to allow recognition of individuals whose initiatives or programs have meaningfully supported or promoted the activities associated with a City facility.
