A RESOLUTION IS REQUESTED FROM THE CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING BID 2019-048 RE-BID NW 38TH AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS.  

 

Need:

ACTION IS NEEDED TO AWARD BID 2019-048 TO FLORIDA ENGINEERING AND DEVELOPMENT CORP TO PROVIDE THE RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NW 38TH AVENUE RIGHT-OF-WAY. THE STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS ARE FOR 38TH AVENUE, BETWEEN NW 19TH STREET AND NW 15TH STREET.

 

Summary Explanation/ Background:

A NEED WAS RECOGNIZED FOR THE CITY TO OBTAIN A CONTRACTOR TO TRANSITION NW 38TH AVENUE FROM A WAREHOUSE INDUSTRIAL CORRIDOR, INTO A WALKABLE FESTIVAL STREET. ON JULY 15, 2019 THE CITY SOLICITED BIDS TO ATTRACT INTERESTED PARTIES TO PROVIDE THE RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NW 38TH AVENUE RIGHT-OF-WAY. THE WORK INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO ON-STREET PARKING; LANDSCAPE AND IRRIGATION IMPROVEMENTS; PEDESTRIAN LIGHTING AND SITE FURNITURE; WIDER PEDESTRIAN SIDEWALKS AND ADDITIONAL CROSSWALKS; ROADWAY AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS; SMALL PLAZA AREAS WITH VENDOR KIOSKS, SEATING AND POWER PEDESTALS AND BUS SHELTERS AND STOPS.

 

AS DETERMINED BY THE EVALUATION COMMITTEE STAFF RECOMMENDS AWARD BE MADE TO FLORIDA ENGINEERING AND DEVELOPMENT CORP AS THE RESPONSIBLE OFFEROR WHOSE PROPOSAL CONFORMS TO THE SOLICITATION AND HAS BEEN DETERMINED THE MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY.
