A resolution of the City Commission authorizing payment to Southern Underground Incorporation, Hinterland Group, Johnson Environmental Services, Shenandoah Sewer Company, in the amount not to exceed $600,000.00 for services, materials, and equipment rendered to repair the 30 inch Force Main located at 55th Avenue NW 24th Street.

Why is there a need for this action?

 

This approval is being requested so that the City can finalize payment  for this emergency repair. The funds are needed to pay for services authorized and rendered to conduct emergency repairs to the 30” Force main pipe.

 

Summary Explanation/ Background:

On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, The Utilities Department experienced an unforeseen/unexpected 30 inch force main Break located at 55th Avenue NW 24th Street.

 

This 30” Force main pipe a main carrier pipe that transports wastewater throughout the Central and Northwest areas of the City of Lauderhill was compromised and in need of emergency repair. A section of the force main had to be removed and replaced to complete the repair. This was an extensive operation as relates to bringing numerous resources in to assist with what was required to complete the necessary repair of this nature.

 

The Utilities Department contacted the following Contractors to assist with the necessary materials and equipment needed for the repair as well as eradicating, transporting, and pumping down the wastewater from various lift stations(pumping stations) within the affected area.

 

                     Shenandoah Sewer Company

                     Johnson Environmental Services

                     Tele-Vac South and

                     Hinterland Group. 

                     Southern Underground Incorporation

                     Range line/EA Tapping Services LLC.

 

These contractors provided the aforementioned services required to make the necessary repairs for the duration of time needed while repairs were being conducted.
