RESOLUTION NO. 23R-06-164: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL APPROVING THE AWARD OF BID TO SOUTHERN UNDERGROUND INDUSTRIES PURSUANT TO RFP #2023-030 IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,245,050.00 FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND REHABILITATION OF LIFT STATION 15; PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT FROM THE APPROPRIATE BUDGET CODE NUMBER; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY CITY MANAGER, DESORAE GILES-SMITH).

Request Action:
Pass a resolution accepting the bid from Southern Underground Industries in the amount of $1,245,050 for the rehabilitation and construction of lift station 15.
Need:
The replacement and rehabilitation of the lift stations within the City of Lauderhill follows the recommendations of the City’s Wastewater Master Plan completed by Flynn Engineering. Based on the recommendation from the Wastewater Master Plan, lift station 15 is due for rehabilitation and/or replacement.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The City is committed to having all lift stations within the City fully operational with minimal down time and lower operational and maintenance cost. In order to accomplish this task, all lift stations that are twenty five years and older are being prioritized for rehabilitation and or replacement. This will reduce time spent by the Utilities Department crews reacting to breakdowns of these systems and allow more time for preventative maintenance, thereby reducing the overall operational cost.
