RESOLUTION NO. 26R-07-121: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE UPDATED 2026 FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964 TITLE VI COMPLIANCE PLAN FOR THE CITY’S TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY OFFICIALS TO SUBMIT THE PLAN AND ANY REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AS APPROPRIATE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY CITY MANAGER, KENNIE HOBBS, JR.).

Approve and adopt the updated 2026 Title VI Compliance Plan for the City of Lauderhill Transportation Program and authorize the appropriate City officials to submit the Plan and any required certifications to the appropriate federal, state, and county agencies as required.

 

 

Need Summary Explanation/ Background:

Why is there a need for this action and provide summary/background?

The City is required to maintain and periodically update its Title VI Compliance Plan as a condition of receiving and administering federal and state transportation funding. Adoption of the updated Plan ensures the City remains in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, applicable Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requirements, and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant requirements.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.

 

The City of Lauderhill has completed an  update of its Title VI Compliance Plan to reflect current federal guidance, updated demographic and Limited English Proficiency (LEP) information, public participation procedures, complaint procedures, organizational changes, transportation services, and other required compliance elements. The updated Plan incorporates current U.S. Census data, revised transportation program information, updated policies and procedures, and reflects the City's continued commitment to providing equitable access to transportation services for all residents.

 

Approval of the updated Title VI Compliance Plan demonstrates the City's commitment to nondiscrimination, accessibility, and equitable service delivery while maintaining eligibility for existing and future federal and state transportation funding opportunities.
