RESOLUTION NO. 25R-12-229: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL APPROVING THE RELEASE AND USAGE OF STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUNDS TO DONATE TO UNDERCOVER SANTA WHICH PROVIDES FOOD AND OTHER SUPPORT TO FAMILIES IN NEED IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,100.00; AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE APPROPRIATE BUDGET CODE NUMBERS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY CITY MANAGER KENNIE HOBBS, JR.).

Request Action:
Requesting for approval of the release of State Law Enforcement Trust Funds to donate to Undercover Santa. Undercover Santa which is a non-profit 501c3 organization that works with under privileged youth ensuring that they have a safe and happy holiday. Undercover Santa provides food and other support to single parent families. As a community-based program, we can direct needy families toward this organization as a resource to the Lauderhill Police Department. The amount requested is $1,000.00 which not to exceed $1,100. The budget code for the State Law Enforcement Trust Funds is 12002683-509935.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
We need these funds to donate to this not for profit organization called, Undercover Santa. This organization is funded through donations as such, they are requesting financial assistance to offset the costs of this year’s event. I am requesting that we utilize $1,000 from the State Law Enforcement Trust Fund, with budget code 12002683-509935, to assist with this request. If funding is approved it will be utilized to assist with the purchase of toys, clothing, and food for those families who need assistance. They are requesting any financial assistance to offset the costs of this year’s community awareness event. Therefore, we are requesting these funds to be approved and released so that we can give donations to this nonprofit 501c3 organization using funds from the State Law Enforcement Trust Funds. We are also requesting that the Office of Management and Budget place the transfer of these funds on the same Commission Agenda as the requested items to eliminate any delays for processing donations.
Funds are needed to help purchase toys, clothing and food for families who need assistance. I am requesting funds to be used from the State Law Enforcement Trust Funds, with account 12002683-509935.
