RESOLUTION NO. 23R-06-152: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL APPROVING THE SUB-AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL AND THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES (FDACS) TO INCREASE THE CITY’S TREE CANOPY; PROVIDING THAT FDACS WILL PROVIDE $17,050.00 THROUGH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOREST SERVICE GRANT AS A PASS-THROUGH ENTITY; PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL WILL BE REQUIRED TO CONTRIBUTE AN ONE-TO-ONE MATCH IN THE AMOUNT OF $17,050.00; PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT FROM THE APPROPRIATE BUDGET CODE NUMBER(S); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS; PROVIDING TERMS AND CONDITIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY CITY MANAGER, DESORAE GILES-SMITH).

Request Action:
A resolution is requested from the City Commission to approve the sub-agreement between the City of Lauderhill and the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to increase the City’s Tree Canopy.
Need:
Action is required to accept the federal terms and conditions of the federal grant to be entitled to reimbursement.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
This federal grant provides reimbursements for the purchase and installation of trees to increase the City’s Tree Canopy. The funds are from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as the pass-through entity. The City of Lauderhill is required to provide a 1 to 1 match. The tree canopy will support the peace garden in Devonhunt and other projects identified by the city that align with said agreement. Please review the 23rd page of the Sub-agreement for additional details regarding the detailing the activity to be conducted.
