Request Action:

State the action requested of the Commission and why the action is necessary.  What is the expected outcome of the action?

Request the Commission to approve the piggyback purchase of park amenities and park playground equipment for Renaissance Park, West Ken Lark Park, and Veteran's Park from approved vendors based upon bids solicited by the School District of Manatee County.

 

Need:

Why is there a need for this action?

There is no existing playground equipment for ages 5 to 12 in Renaissance Park and the West Ken Lark Park playground canopy cover needs to be replaced.  Also, the two pavilions at Veteran's Park have outlived their lifespan and need to be replaced.

 

Summary Explanation/ Background:

Provide a summary/background of this agenda request.

Providing new playground equipment at Renaissance Park will provide a new, safe, and innovative play space that will provide children play opportunities that will promote physical health and imagination.  Providing a new canopy at West Ken Lark Park will enable the Parks Department to renovate the canopy and provide needed shade for the youth using the playground equipment.
