Need: A proposed Ordinance amending the Land Development Regulations, and Code of Ordinance providing for definitions and regulations for the operation of Mobile Vendor and Mobile Food Vendor Uses and amending provisions for Home Based Business in order to gain conformance with Florida State Statute, Chapter 477 Cosmetology Section 466.0263 Cosmetology services to be performed in a licensed salon; exceptions (FS 477.0263).
Summary Explanation/ Background: The City of Lauderhill’s Land Development and Code Regulations do not currently provide for or allow Mobile Vendor or Mobile Food Vendors uses with the exception of Ice Cream Vending Vehicles. The need has been identified to provide to allow theses uses and to provide regulations for said uses. One focus of this proposed text amendment is to allow for licensed Mobile Vendor Uses, such as mobile groomers or mobile carwashes, to operate on private property within Residential Zoning Districts.
Another goal of this proposed text amendment is to bring the City of Lauderhill into conformity with the State of Florida, FS 477.0263 Cosmetology, cosmetology services to be performed in a licensed salon; exception. This statute allows for licensed cosmetologist to perform services within their residential property without needing a commercial salon license. The Lauderhill Code of Ordinance, Home Based Business regulations do not currently provided for this. This proposed text amendment would make the Code of Ordinance consist with FS 477.0263.
