Request Action:

To approve the contract renewal with Johns Eastern Company, Inc. to administer the City's run-off claims for the period October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

 

Need:

To maintain accurate aggregate claim tracking and necessary payments from the insurer's loss fund.

 

Summary Explanation/ Background:

The City hired Johns Eastern to administer the run-off claims that were established before October 1, 2007 with the Third Party Administrator ("TPA"), Gallagher Bassett.

Cost Summary/ Fiscal Impact:

The total fees are $11,480.00 based on the outstanding claims.  These fees are budgeted under line items 001.162.4521, 001.162.4522 and 001.162.4523.  These fees include $3,500 to comply with the mandated Medicare reporting requirements.  As claims are closed, the annual fees decrease.
