Request Action:
A RESOLUTION IS REQUESTED FROM THE CITY COMMISSION TO APPROVE THE RANKING OF QUALIFIED FIRMS FOR RFP 2020-031 WTP GENERATOR AUXILIARY CONNECTION TO ALL FLORIDA CONTRACTING IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THE AMOUNT OF $448,500.00 AS RECOMMENDED BY THE EVALUATION COMMITTEE.
Need:
IN ORDER TO PROVIDE BACKUP GENERATOR POWER TO THE EXISTING 800KW GENERATOR AT THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT, AN AUXILIARY GENERATOR CONNECTION IS NEEDED WHEN ADDITIONAL GENERATORS ARE BROUGHT IN DURING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS SUCH HURRICANES, FP&L POWER OUTAGES, AND WATER TREATMENT PLANT MAINTENANCE.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The Water Treatment Plant currently has an 800kw generator that provides back up power to operate the Water Treatment Plant should an FP&L power failure occur. However, in order to have backup power to this generator, an auxiliary generator connection is needed to provide the required hardware needed for the purpose of bringing in a portable generator backup power in case there is a failure to the 800 kw generator. This will provide a redundant backup source of power in the case of an FP&L failure or failure of the original 800kw generator.
