Purchase and install two (2) 16” GBZ Adams Combination Check, Control, Isolation Valves with Dampening system for the Water Treatment Plant high service pumps to replace the existing 16” GBZ Adams unrepairable valves.

Summary Explanation/ Background:

Provide a summary/background of this agenda request.

The Utilities Division has embarked on a valve replacement program to replace old defective valves within the water distribution system and waste water collections system that have exceeded their life expectancy and does not operate adequately. During emergencies within the water distribution system and waste water collections system, large numbers of residents are impacted when specific valves in these systems are functioning inadequately.

The 16” GBZ Adams Combination Check, Control, Isolation Valves with Dampening system high service pump valve acts as a control mechanism to the high service pumps that pressurizes the water distribution system. The existing high service pumps valves were installed in 1999.  The valves are past their life expectancy; and are unrepairable; Therefore, replacement of the existing 16” GBZ Adams Combination Check, Control, Isolation Valves with Dampening system is needed. At this time, Utilities would like to replace two (2) of the five (5) high service pump valves.
