Summary Explanation/ Background:

The people of the State of Florida have been harmed by the misfeasance, malfeasance, and nonfeasance surrounding improper prescriptions and distribution of opioids throughout the State which were the subject matter of litigation. Various settlements have been reached regarding the opioid litigation and the State of Florida and local governments intend for the settlement funds to be used on opioid and substance abuse education, treatment and other related programs and services to ensure that the funds are expended in compliance with evolving evidence-based "best practices".
