Title

RESOLUTION NO. 21R-05-96: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL APPROVING THE ADDENDUM TO THE RECYCLING COLLECTION AGREEMENT WITH WASTE MANAGEMENT INC. OF FLORIDA WASTE MANAGEMENT TO PROVIDE EXCLUSIVE RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING SERVICES CITYWIDE THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 IN ORDER TO RUN CONCURRENT WITH THE SOLID WASTE SERVICES AGREEMENT; PROVIDING TERMS AND CONDITIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY CITY MANAGER, DESORAE GILES-SMITH).

Body

Request Action: Pass a Resolution to approve an Addendum to the Recycling Agreement to extend the current Agreement to run through September 30, 2024 so that it coincides with the term for the Solid Waste Agreement, and providing additional modifications consistent with current day needs.

Need:

To extend the recycling agreement to run concurrent with the Solid Waste Agreement and to provide some modified terms.

Summary Explanation/ Background:

The current Recycling Agreement with Waste Management is about to expire on July 1, 2021. These services were previously provided by Waste Pro and were subsequently assigned to Waste Management so the term of the Recycling Agreement no longer coincides with the term of the Solid Waste Agreement.  It is more beneficial for costs, efficiency and administration to have both services run on concurrent terms.  This addendum provides for an extension of the current Recycling Agreement so that it will expire at the same time as the Solid Waste Agreement on September 30, 2024 in order to get their terms to coincide again. There are a few minor modifications to the terms to represent the current day needs. The City will issue a RFP for both Recyling Services and Solid Waste Services upon the expiration of both agreements. All of the terms of the addendum will become effective on August 1, 2021.
