Request Action:
Staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance to clarify the parking requirement are limited to swales in single-family residential zoning districts.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
The proposed amendment is intended to make the City's parking rules easier to understand and enforce by clarifying where vehicles may and may not park on swales and other unpaved areas next to roadways. Under the proposal, parking on swales next to commercial, industrial, and other nonresidential properties would no longer be allowed. The amendment also makes clear that the existing exception allowing residents to park on the swale next to their own property applies only to single-family homes.
