Request Action:
Resolution approving the expenditure of $210,000.00 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) account # 120-683-9935 to assist with the purchase of 150 Glock 45MOS7 Direct Mount for Aimpoint ACRO 2 9MM firearms and ancillary equipment necessary to outfit officers of the Police Department from a vendor known as Lou's Police Distributors, Inc., 7815 West 4th Ave., Hialeah, FL 33014.
Need:
Most of the fire arms being used by members of the police department have been in use for over ten years and need to be replaced, thus minimizing the chances of equipment failure during critical incidents. Additionally, there has been a movement, in local law enforcement, away from the .40 caliber round currently used by our department and going to a .9mm round.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The Department requests to purchase 150 Glock 45MOS7 Direct Mount for Aimpoint ACRO 2 9MM firearms at a cost of $904.96 each, totaling $135,744.00; 150 Safariland 7360RDS holster at a cost of $143.00 each, totaling $21,450.00; and 150 Surefire X300U-Z Weaponlight at a cost of $270.00 each, totaling $40, 500.00. The vendor will accept 140 of our existing model 22 Glock .40 pistols at a trade-in value of $215.00 each, totaling $30,100.00, and 15 of our existing existing model 22 Glock .40 pistols at a cost of $235.00 each, totaling $3,525.00.

Cost Summary/ Fiscal Impact:
It is recommended that Commission approve the expenditure of funds from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund account # 120-683-9935 to assist with the purchase of 150 Glock 45MOS7 Direct Mount for Aimpoint ACRO 2 9MM firearms and ancillary equipment for use by members of the Police Department at a cost not exceeding $210,000.00 from a vendor known as Lou's Police Distributors, Inc., 7815 West 4th Ave., Hialeah, FL 33014. The use of funds from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund account will not negatively impact the Police Department's FY 2023-24 budget.
