Body
Request Action:
A Resolution of the City Commission adopting the 2020 Ten-Year Water Supply Facilities Work Plan and associated documentation.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
In 2020 as a part of the regular Comprehensive Plan update the State of Florida approved the Conservation Elemenet addressing the need for an updated Ten-year Water Suppl;y Plan to be approved through the SFWMD. Water Demand Forecast and Water Supply Adequacy compares water supply and treatment capacity to the water demand forecast. Based on projections, it appears that the City has sufficient water capacity to satisfy demand through the end of August 2030, consistent with the permit. Subsequent to this, the City's Ten-year Eater Supply Facilities Work Plan must be adopted. The requirement to prepare and implement work plans is a State of FLorida mandate that impacts all water providers. Due tot he reduction of volume available from the Biscayne aquifer, the City pursued an alternative water supply sufficient to meet future need.
Cost Summary/ Fiscal Impact:
It is estimated the projects recommended in the Ten-year Water Supply Facilities Work Plan will cost $100 million over the next 5 years.
