Request Action:
Resolution for the Police Department to request new furniture and cubicles for the Criminal Investigation Division and Records Unit.
Need:
The workspace for Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Records Unit was designed with 2003 staffing levels. The office furniture and cubicles with those areas are the original from when the building opened. Original/current configuration only accommodated eleven workspaces in CID and six spaces in Records. More work spaces are needed in both units.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
The Police Department is in need of new furniture and cubicles for the Criminal Investigation and Records Unit. Due to the increase in staffing within both units, it has now become necessary to implement additional work spaces for current and future personnel. The CID unit needs more furniture and cubicle spaces for new staff. The records unit is a 24 hour operation which includes teletype and a front desk for customer service. The new furniture and cubicles in both units will provide an efficient amount of space for new personnel.

Cost Summary/ Fiscal Impact:
It is recommended that the Commission approve Corporate Interiors, Inc. for furniture purchase to accommodate both units staffing needs. The total amount needed to purchase this furniture is $66,000. The project will be funded with funds from the Law Enforcement Trust Funds which has been approved by the Commissioners under resolution #19R-05-85.
