A request to the City Commission to approve a proposal in the amount not to exceed $68,300.00 from Hinterland Group to perform emergency repairs for Lift Station # 1.

 

Need:

Why is there a need for this action?

 

Due to vehicular accident that occurred at Lift Station # 1 located at 2101 NW 49th Avenue which caused substantial damage to the City’s utilities infrastructure it is necessary to make repairs to bring back the system to its original condition. The following items are needed to complete the repairs:

 

 Control Panel

 Antenna

 Bollards

 Fence

 Meter boxes

 Backflow preventers

 FPL meter

 

 

Summary Explanation/ Background:

Provide a summary/background of this agenda request.

 

On Saturday, September 14, 2019, at approximately 1:22am. A two car vehicle accident occurred that caused substantial damage to the City’s utilities infrastructure lift station (L/S) #1 and other utilities such as FPL. One car ran into an FPL concrete pole knocking it to the ground and completely destroying the pole. Also damaged were two backflow preventers that served the lift station. The second car hit three bollards that were in place to provide some level of protection for the lift station, then hit L/S #1 control panel, FPL meter box, Lift station scada antenna, and went through the fence of the Water Treatment Plant.

 

An Emergency By-Pass pump was installed ta act as a temporary lift station until repairs are completed.
