Request Action:

Pass a Resolution to support the amendment to House Bill (HB) 7065 which allows an additional levy of up to .5 mills by local school districts to provide an additional dedicated funding source for SROs.

 

Need:

To support an additional funding source to pay for SROs.

 

Summary Explanation/ Background:

An amendment to HB 7065 was filed by Representative Jones. This bill would allow local school districts to levy up to an additional .5 mills that would cover costs for the SRO program and sworn law enforcement. This has been a collaborative effort between the BLOC, law enforcement and the School Board in order to have a dedicated funding source for the SRO Program.
