Request Action:
Approve an ordinance amending Section 9-61 of the City Code to increase Lauderhill Fire Rescue EMS transport fees from $800 to $1,100 for BLS, ALS-1, and ALS-2 transports, and increase mileage from $10 to $14 per loaded mile.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
Lauderhill Fire Rescue EMS transport fees have not been adjusted since April 2015. Since that time, cumulative inflation has increased approximately 38 percent, while the City’s EMS transport rates have remained among the lowest in Broward County. The proposed adjustment brings the City’s fees closer to prevailing county rates and restores much of the purchasing value of the rate established in 2015.
Cost Summary/ Fiscal Impact:
There is no direct cost associated with the proposed fee adjustment. Based on CY2025 transport volume of approximately 9,066 transports, the increase is projected to generate approximately $188,000 in additional annual collected revenue. Actual collections will vary based on payer mix and reimbursement rates. Medicare, Medicaid, and self-pay reimbursement are largely unaffected by the City’s billed rate, with most additional revenue expected from commercial insurance.
