Approval of a resolution authorizing the City of Lauderhill (“City”) to piggyback of Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) Contract FSA23-EQU21.0: Equipment with Southern Sewer Equipment Sales for the purchase of a Regenerative Air Sweeper for the Lauderhill Public Works Department and to enter into a piggyback agreement with the firm in an amount not to exceed $374,708.00.
Need Summary Explanation/ Background:
The City of Lauderhill Public Works has identified the need to acquire a Regenerative Air Sweeper to enhance the City’s street-cleaning operations and to support the maintenance of clean, safe and environmentally responsible public spaces. The proposed equipment will be utilized to efficiently and consistently maintain Citywide roadways from environmental pollutants by removing debris, dust, and litter.
Pursuant to Section 2-144 of the City's Code, the City may waive its requirements on competitive bidding and join in on cooperative purchasing plans when in the best interest of the City.
The Florida Sheriffs Association competitively solicited and awarded Contract No. FSA23-EQU21.0, Equipment, for Sweeper: Global R3, 3-wheel Mechanical or Regenerative Air Sweeper to Southern Sewer Equipment Sales with Base bid in the amount $288,129.00. This contract permits cooperative purchasing by municipalities and other governmental entities, making the contract available for piggyback use by the City.
Piggybacking this competitively awarded FSA contract will allow the City to procure the equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with the City's Procurement Code.
The City desire to upgrade from the R3 Regenerative Air Sweeper to R4 Model: 4 Wheel Sweeper with Higher HP Engine, 250 Gallon Water Capacity and Southern Sewer Equipment Sales submitted a quote in the amount of $374,708.00.
Recommendation is to approve a resolution authorizing the City of Lauderhill to piggyback the FSA Contract No. FSA23-EQU21.0, Equipment and authorizing the City Manager to execute a piggyback agreement in an amount not to exceed $374,708, subject to budget availability for the upgraded model.
