Title

RESOLUTION NO 24R-04-69: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL REVIEWING AND APPROVING THE YEARLY ADOPTION OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS/TITLE VI COMPLIANCE PLAN RELATIVE TO THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL BUS SERVICE PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE (REQUESTED BY CITY MANAGER, DESORAE GILES-SMITH).

Body

Request Action:

A resolution is requested from the City Commission to approve the City's Title VI Compliance Plan to meet various Federal Agency requirements.

Need:

The City of Lauderhill's receipt of Federal funding mandates Title VI Compliance criteria specific to the various Federal agencies that provide funding. Additionally, Federal agencies require a yearly adoption of the Plan via resolution by City Commission.

Summary Explanation/ Background:

Title VI is a Federal Law that applies to recipients and sub-recipients of Federal financial assistance (e.g., states, local governments, and transit providers). The City's required Title VI Compliance Plan currently covers approximately eight (8) separate federal agencies. Each agency code of federal regulations covers additional Title VI criteria specific to the agency that are not addressed by the City's Title VI Policy, thus requiring the City to develop a Plan that encompasses the various regulations of each separate agency.

Because the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) and US Housing and Urban Development (HUD) require yearly Plan additions and updates, these Federal agencies mandate that the City's Title VI Compliance Plan be adopted and approved via resolution annually.
