Request Action:
Pass an Ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances Chapter 2, Administration, Article IV, City Commission, Section 2-166 to provide a e comprehensive Code of Ethics/Code of Conduct applicable to all public officer and charter officers and to provide penalty provisions for violations thereof.

Need:
To establish a more comprehensive Code of Ethics/Code of Conduct for all public and charter officers.

Summary Explanation/ Background:
It was recently brought to the City's attention that we did not have a comprehensive Code of Ethics/Code of Conduct applicable to public officers and/or charter officers that clearly set out the processes and penalties for violations. This Ordinance seeks to set out in more detail what appropriate behavior is, what types of actions would be considered a violation by said officers, the process for handling any alleged violations, and the penalties relating to any violations that are found to have occurred after the necessary investigative processes are concluded.
