Request Action:

The action is necessary in order to obtain approval of a Resolution authorizing the Agreement between US Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the City of Lauderhill for "BJA FY 20 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program."

Need:

The Agreement with BJA requires commission approval and will provide grant funding for police Officer overtime, purchase of PPE (personal protective equipment) and supplies for Lauderhill Police Department.

Summary Explanation/ Background:

The United States Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance allocated Federal Formula funding to multiple jurisdictions that are previous recipients of Byrne-Jag Formula Funding.  The City of Lauderhill's formula allocation was $146,786 and in order to receive these funds, an application explaining the need and how funds were going to be used for COVID-19 related services was required to be submitted.
