Request Action:
Pass a resolution to support a countywide ordinance to hold the venues, businesses, or other responsible parties accountable for snipe signs and posted unlawfully placed on public property.
Need:
To try to reduce the number of snipe signs and posters that are placed on public property.
Summary Explanation/ Background:
Snipe signs and posters are frequently placed throughout the city. This creates an eyesore and an unnecessary expense to the city to have to use staff time to remove the signs in order to beautify the city. Sometimes the placement of these signs can even create a safety hazard in streets. Commissioner Hayward J. Benson, Jr. has requested a resolution to support the Broward County Commission passing a countywide ordinance which would hole the venues, businesses or other responsible party named in the content of the snipe sign or post responsible for the illegal placement of any of theirs signs.
